Technologies were made with specific purposes and attributes. They were not created equal and therefore they varies in some aspects including the efficiency, processes and technical features. Furthermore, the ability of a certain technology to perform efficiently and effectively was totally dependent on certain factors such as the processing medium.

In the bulk industry for instance, the quality of the bulk solids products are very much dependent on the efficiency of a processing technology. The more efficient the processing technology is the higher the quality of the final bulk products. Despite the fact, that technology were not equal, still the efficiency of a particular processing technique should be a major consideration.

The bulk solids materials such as polymers, plastics, fertilizers and many other types of bulk powders require an accurate and precise handling and processing, therefore, there is no room for inefficient technology to process them.

Every processing technology is composed of different internal processes and stages which are also a crucial part in its over all performance and efficiency. Let's take for example the fluid bed processing technology for cooling, heating and drying of bulk solids materials.


The fluid bed processing technology has several internal processes such as the heating, cooling, and drying process, the chilling process and the cleaning process.

In the first process, the air was taken in through the perforated distributor plate and then the air flow across the layers of solid bed where it performs the heating, cooling and drying process. During this process, the air performs two significant functions. First, it creates a fluidized state which enable the materials to flow and then it serves as the heat exchange medium which add or remove heat from the process.

The chilling process in the fluid bed technology happens when the ambient air needs to be cooled or heated in order to achieve the required cooling or heating temperature. This process must be done prior to use in order to avoid some process issues.

On the other hand, the cleaning process was done after the air passed through the fluid bed chambers and the air needs to be dispose through the stacks. The emission which results from the large volumes of air use to process the bulk solids materials must be cleaned and scrubbed before it was disposed to the atmosphere.


These processes are not actually fixed and it varies depending on the medium and other technical aspects of the processing technology.
